Why help communities in The Gambia?

In The Gambia, many disadvantaged children are not provided with their right to an education. In fact, 31.6% of children aged 7-15 years were out of school in 2010.

 

(World Bank/UNESCO, 2010; UNICEF, 2011).

What we do

At G.P.O, we focus on increasing children's access to education, through building new schools, installing computer suites for local communities and distributing teaching resources.

Our core values

We focus on providing the tools to communities to make real long-term improvements.

Building

Working with Gambian construction workers to source and build primary schools and other projects.

Teaching

Providing teaching resources and teacher training to various primary schools in The Gambia.

Resourcing

Giving out donations to communities; clothes, medical equipment, toys and so much more.

Providing education for 600 students, including a computer suite.

Provided 1000s of medical supplies

Supplied to 5 hospitals across The Gambia; from Serrekunda, to Soma.

Trained 8 teachers

Supported teachers throughout their training who now teach in Sinchu.
